Myria Mattress
The Stanford Sleepiness Scale
was developed to assess how sleep research subjects are feeling throughout the
day. To find out if you're getting your ideal dosage of sleep, rate your alertness
levels using the scale below. Remember that most people have two peak times
of alertness daily, at about 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Alertness wanes around 3 p.m.
and begins building after that time. A score of 1 is ideal. Higher scores indicate
a sleep debt and signal that you need better quality sleep.
Degree of Sleepiness Rating
Level 1: Feeling active, vital, alert, or wide awake
Level 2: Functioning at high levels, but not at peak; able to concentrate
Level 3: Awake, but relaxed; responsive but not fully alert
Level 4: Somewhat foggy, slowing down
Level 5: Foggy; losing interest in remaining awake; slowed down
Level 6: Sleepy, woozy, fighting sleep; prefer to lie down
Level 7: No longer fighting sleep, sleep onset soon; having dream-like thoughts
